What services do you offer to parents who have youth currently in out-of-home placements?

For Parents of Youth in Treatment

Having your child gone is hard enough... actively prepare for their return. Imagine a life where your child comes home, and you know what to do and say when they have a hard time, you understand their triggers and how to avoid them, you know what to do when they feel anxious, depressed, or like self-harming. Imagine a life where you teach, inspire, and uplift your child.. a life in which you two actually get along and enjoy being around each other.

So often, treatment programs are focused on a youth's healing, skill development, and growth. Yes, there is family therapy and parent weekends, but who is teaching YOU the skills you need to help your child continue their journey successfully when they return?

I hate to break it to you (and I think you know this), but they didn't go away because THEY were the only problem. Children's turmoil and hardships--whether behavioral, emotional, or related to mental health diagnosis or trauma-- are a family system problem. We all have a part to play.

The hard reality is: when a youth returns from wilderness therapy or residential treatment, usually having changed inside and out-- to the same home, the same people, the same environment, and the same friends-- chances are high they will rebound. Imagine developing a skill set to cope, but no one else knows how to help you use that skill set, or encourage you, or hold you accountable.

Engage in a proactive and purposeful journey just as intense (and perhaps just as long) as your teen's so you can continue to be part of the solution when they return-- and thus, increasing the likelihood of prolonged stability, peace, and growth in their life and in your home.

  • Learn all the skills the professionals working with your child have so you can continue using them with your child when they return home.

  • Create a specific, "Individualized Parenting Plan & Implementation" (IPPI) that lasts the length of your child's treatment, but is YOUR treatment plan for YOUR development.

  • IPPI will outline specific goals for yourself and for your relationship with your child, as well as the skills you'll develop to achieve those goals.

  • Skills are taught line upon line, and added upon each month or upon achievement in phases of progression.

  • Join a cohort of parents and engage in weekly live group coaching sessions focused on learning skills in a structured and focused way

  • Engage in several 1:1 parent education sessions per month, to practice how to use your current skill in phone calls, family sessions, and on upcoming visits

  • Participate in short accountability phone calls throughout to report the use of your skill, ask questions, or prepare for the next touchpoint with your kiddo.

  • 3-4 contacts per month whether through formal parent education session via Zoom or Google Meet, Online Group Coaching, or brief accountability phone call.

  • Also includes homework in a parenting workbook, access to an exclusive online community group for added support and unlimited access to parenting educator. Potential for unlimited support once your child returns home for up to 6 months after they return.

  • Sign a Release of Information so your parenting coach can work with the treatment center closely to match your progress with your child's progress and really prepare for visits and ultimately, aftercare.

For Parents of Children in the Home

Parenting is tough. Imagine a world where you know all the answers-- you know just what to do to motivate them, how to teach them, how to calm them down, and even how to discipline them in a way that actually works. Imagine a world where you can keep calm, you're positive, and your kids actually like you.

Sounds crazy, right? Especially if you have a kiddo with behavioral or mental health struggles. Perhaps your child is on the autism spectrum, has ADHD, anxiety, depression, Disruptive Mood Disregulation Disorder or is just dealing with the effects of trauma. Maybe they have Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, or Oppositional Defiance Disorder. Perhaps they have no diagnosis or disorder at all, but they are just a more challenging kiddo.

Children don't come with a parenting manual but the answers DO exist. You CAN know what to do and say, and how to discipline in a way that works. We live in a world where parenting has been studied for almost 60 years now, and not only studied, but studies have been replicated and gotten the same outcomes! That means, we DO know what works and when individualized, it'll work for your child too.

An Individualized Parenting Plan (& Implementation) may be for you if you are seeking drastic change in your home and in your parenting. This is not a program where WE "fix" your kid, but this is a program where we teach you evidence-based skills for YOU to teach and grow along side your kiddo. If you're ready and willing to accept your weaknesses, build on your strengths, set some individual and family goals and achieve them in a real and intense way, this program may be for you.

  • Receive a physical "Individualized Parenting Plan" catered to you and your family, which will outline 4-6 skills that when learned, will help you meet your goals.

  • Program lasts 8-14 weeks based on need and will start out with more interactions and phase out.

  • Meet with Naomi, or another certified parenting coach, 3-4+ times per week in person, online, and in accountability phone calls to learn, practice, and progress

  • Parent education sessions will be between 1-2 hours per session and should occur several times per week.

  • Education sessions will include learning parenting principles and techniques, modeling, and LOTS of practice and role plays. You MUST be willing to do the role plays. It's the only way you'll learn!

  • Accountability calls will generally last between 15-30 minutes depending on need.

  • Skills are taught line upon line and progress occurs in phases, with each phase focused on a specific purpose

  • Do daily homework assignment to incorporate and practice skills learned in parenting sessions.

  • Also includes a parenting workbook, access to an exclusive online community for added support, and unlimited access to parenting educator during program.

  • Books, podcasts, and articles are great but allow a coach to literally hold your hand and stand by you as you are coached, taught, and held accountable. It is the only way real skills are developed and real change occurs!

I'm ready to work on creating the family I want.
